About the Charlotte Rugby Club

Founded in 1971 in Charlotte, North Carolina, Charlotte Rugby Club (Charlotte Rugby Football Club) has a long standing reputation as one of the nation’s top rugby clubs.  Charlotte Rugby Club is a member of USA Rugby, USA Rugby Super League, USA Rugby South, and the Mid-Atlantic R.F.U.  After many years of top finishes in Division 1, Charlotte was invited to join the USA Rugby Super League in 2006.  Charlotte currently fields three mens teams.  In the Fall, the First XV compete in the MARFU Championship Division.  In the Spring,the First XV competes in the USA Rugby Super League, which is comprised of the top sixteen rugby teams in the nation.  The Second XV competes in the USA Rugby South Division II league.  The Third XV, The Charlotte Socialites, plays the Second XV’s B-side matches as well as friendlies throughout the Carolinas.  In the Fall the First XV competes in the MARFU Championship and the 2nd XV plays the 2nd XV of the First XV's opponent as well as matches throughout the region.  Charlotte plays their homes games at Skillbeck Athletic Grounds, a European style rugby complex in Northwest Charlotte.  2009 marks an exciting year for Charlotte Rugby Club as we welcome the local youth, high school and U-19 rugby teams into our organization.
